The Kincrome Automotive Diagnostic Code Reader OBD2 CAN Enabled is a handheld OBD2 scanner for reading and clearing engine fault codes on most 1996 and later vehicles. The code reader works with OBD2 compliant cars, light-duty trucks, SUVs, vans and hybrids, and supports the J1850-PWM, J1850-VPW, ISO9141, KWP2000 (ISO 14230) and CAN (ISO 11898) protocols through a standard 16-pin OBDII connector.
Diagnostics cover generic, pending and manufacturer specific diagnostic trouble codes, with the ability to turn off the malfunction indicator lamp, review the emission readiness status of OBD monitors and read freeze frame data recorded at the moment a code was set. Live data streaming from the engine sensors suits chasing intermittent faults, and VIN, Cal ID and CVN identifiers can be pulled from the ECU on 2002 and newer vehicles that support Mode 9.
Kincrome built the unit to run stand-alone without a laptop: it draws DC 12V from the vehicle battery through the detachable OBD2 cable, so no batteries are required. The backlit LCD shows 2 lines of 8 characters, the housing measures 113 x 74 x 21mm and weighs 250g, and menus can be set to English, French, German, Polish, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Dutch.
