How To Replace Bonnet or Hatch Support Struts
Overview
Have you ever had the bonnet or hatch open, and while you're in the middle of something, had it close on your head? Ouch. The average lifespan of a support strut is only three to five years.
Luckily replacing them is simple and your local Supercheap Auto will be able to help you select the right ones for your vehicle.

- New Bonnet or Hatch Support Struts

- Flat Blade Screw Driver
Steps
Compare
Ensure you have the correct strut by comparing it to the original.
Remove Old Support Strut
Have an assistant support the panel for you.
Using a flat blade screwdriver, unclip the strut from the mounting point on the body.
Then repeat the procedure to unclip the strut from the mounting point on the panel.
Install New Support Strut
Take the replacement strut and press the clip onto the mounting point on the body.
Then attach it to the mounting point on the panel.
Repeat And Check Operation
Repeat the procedure for the opposite side.
NOTE: You should always replace support struts in pairs.
Then lower the bonnet or boot to check the struts are now operating correctly.
