Woody’s Top 5 Tool Tips
Woody, creator of the hugely popular YouTube channel The Skid Factory with nearly 50 million views, has been turning spanners since he was just 14.
More recently, he’s taken on a major 100 Series LandCruiser project build - completing a full engine swap, interior and exterior upgrades, and finishing it off with a fresh paint job.
Below, Woody shares some of his top tips from years spent hands-on in the shed.
ToolPRO Digital Torque Wrench 1/2" Drive
TIP: Use slow, smooth pulls for accuracy - don’t yank on it like a breaker bar. Let the reading build up gradually.
Bonus tip: Batteries matter more than people think. Make sure they’re up to scratch so the torque wrench reads accurately and doesn’t switch off halfway through.
ToolPRO Compression Tester Kit 8 Piece
TIP: Do each cylinder 3 times and take an average. Don’t trust the first hit, consistency tells the real story.
Bonus tip: Keep crank speed consistent every time. A weak battery or slow crank will throw your readings out straight away.
ToolPRO Auto Diagnostic Scanner OBD2 and CAN
TIP: Got an engine light on? Clear the codes first, then see what comes back after cycling the key and putting some load on it. Old fault codes can send you chasing ghosts.
Bonus tip: This tool is a guide only and not a diagnosis. If you’re unsure, consult your local mechanic to identify the cause of the fault code.
ToolPRO 12V Brushless Right Angle Die Grinder Skin
TIP: Got an engine light on? Clear the codes first, then see what comes back after cycling the key and putting some load on it. Old fault codes can send you chasing ghosts.
Bonus tip: This tool is a guide only and not a diagnosis. If you’re unsure, consult your local mechanic to identify the cause of the fault code.
ToolPRO 12V 2 Speed Polisher Skin
TIP: Don’t chase perfection in one hit. Work in small sections, it’s not a full-size polisher and be ready to swap pads for a finer finish as you refine the surface.
Bonus tip: Again, a bigger battery helps a lot here, more consistent torque and longer polishing time without fading out.
