Battery Recycling
Most of the components of the battery including plastic, lead and acid are re-processed and manufactured into a range of other products. To avoid the cost and inconvenience of disposal, at Supercheap Auto, we offer a FREE lead acid battery recycling service. Simply take your used battery to any of our stores, and your lead acid battery will be recycled by Century Yuasa free of charge!
Please note, we are unable to accept any lithium battery for recycling. Please contact your local council or governing body for advice on a local solution to suit your needs.

What type of batteries can I recycle at Supercheap Auto?
Supercheap Auto accepts lead-acid batteries for recycling, including automotive, marine, deep-cycle, and motorcycle varieties. This covers standard flooded, AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat), and Gel battery technologies.
Can I bring in lithium or household batteries too?
No, we are strictly unable to accept any lithium batteries (including LiFePO4) or small household batteries (such as AA or AAA) for recycling. We recommend contacting your local council or a battery recycling scheme like B-cycle for advice on safe disposal solutions for these items.
Is it safe to transport an old car battery to Supercheap Auto?
Yes, it is safe to transport an old car battery if handled and secured correctly. Always keep the battery in an upright position and secure it in your vehicle to prevent tipping or leaking during transit.
